A child's-eye view of Tai Dam culture
This continues our series of small, beginning-reader books about the ethnic groups of Laos. It was illustrated by Tai Dam children in Luang Namtha province of northern Laos.
Page by page, they tell about planting crops, weaving silk, traditional dances, children's games, food, and more.
Ethnic children often have difficulty when they enter school. These books provide a link between the Lao culture and language of the school, and the ethnic culture of their home and village.
