The proverbs of our ancestors
Get up early like a crow; scratch for food like a chicken. If your hands aren't paddling, don't drag your feet in the water. And don't teach a crocodile to swim.
Every culture has its proverbs. Many contain a universal truth, interpreted through the experience of that culture. These 30 traditional sayings are taken from Ounla's longer Lao Proverbs Coloring Book, colorfully illustrated so that a new generation can learn the wisdom of our ancestors.
