Animals of Africa

Many Lao books retell traditional children's stories, but there is little enjoyable non-fiction. Here, animals such as storks, flying squirrels, and ostriches are used to introduce such concepts as evolution, ecological niches, and extinction.

Big Brother Mouse adds a simple but funny comment about every animal, which encourages younger children to also browse through the book.
