The Lao alphabet
Lao spellings are phonetic, unlike English, so a Lao child who has learned the alphabet is much closer to being able to read than a child in an English-speaking country. Here is one of several books intended to make that process fun. Starting with 'Frog and Alligator', Khamla has written a short, funny rhyme for each letter. Ounla's lively cartoons help children understand the text.
This is a small, low-priced edition of one of our popular first titles.
by Khamla Panyasouk, illustrated by Ounla Santi This book was made possible by a gift from Charles Felsenthal of the USA, "in honor of my first grade teacher Prudence Lauterbach, who gave me one of the best gifts imaginable by teaching me to read."
