The Cat That Flew

When a bird escapes from him, Matt the Cat wants to fly. And he does.

But his real purpose in life is to help children bridge the gap between the simple letters of the Lao alphabet, and the complex sounds in which two or three simple letters (not necessarily adjacent) combine to create a new sound.

Matt's adventure is written for children who have finished book #3 in our "I Can Read!" series, and have learned their first complex sound: "ayo".

Matt's actual Lao name is "Mayo Khamsayo", (Khamsayo the cat), his nemesis is the bird Gayo, and other "ayo" words appear in the book, helping young readers solidify their grasp of this combination before they move on to others. And Matt, you'll be happy know, has his adventure and returns safely to earth.
